Song of the Day: “You Give Love A Bad Name”—Bon Jovi

There are a few themes that have been present throughout the majority of Pop music history. (Aside: “Pop” music simply means “Popular Music”). Among the main ones is the “You-broke-my-heart-and-now-I’m mad) song, which has practically been made and remade across multiple genres.

Right smack-dab in the middle of the 80s glam metal scene, where “Sex, Drugs, and Rock n’ Roll” was the national anthem, Bon Jovi decided to revive the classic motif of heartbreak with a (then) modern twist.

The result was a 4 minute slandering of exes around the world, with exceptional backing vocals to create an absolute tidal wave of a chorus. In terms of sing-a-long-ability (just made that up), you’ll be hard-pressed to find anything better. Probably because most of us have always wanted to say the song’s title to someone.
